Uses of Generic Vasotec (Envas by Cadila)

This medicine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), congestive heart failure, kidney problems caused by diabetes, and to improve survival after a heart attack. It is in a group of drugs called ACE inhibitors (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme). Generic Vasotec (Enalapril Maleate tablets) is used to treat the following indications

• All grades of essential hypertension.
• Renovascular hypertension.
• All degrees of heart failure.
  In patients with symptomatic heart failure, Enalapril Maleate tablets are also used to:

The dosage of Enalapril Maleate Tablets(Generic Vasotec) for various indications is given below:

Treatment of Hypertension in Adults:
The recommended initial dose is 5 mg once daily. The normal maintenance dose is one 20 mg tablet taken once daily. The dosage should be adjusted according to the requirements of the individual patient to a maximum of 40 mg daily.
Treatment of Hypertension in Pediatrics:
The recommended initial dose dose is 0.08 mg/kg (up to 5 mg) once daily.

Treatment of Renovascular Hypertension :
Since blood pressure and renal function in such patients may be specially sensitive to ACE inhibition, the treatment should be started with a lower starting dose in the range of 2.5 mg to 5 mg. The dosage should then be adjusted to meet the treatment objectives of the patient. Caution is recommended in treating patients with hypertension who have been treated recently with diuretics.

How to Use Enalapril Maleate Tablets(Generic Vasotec)

Envas Tablets (Generic Vasotec Tablets) are contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to Enalapril Maleate, the active ingredient or any inactive ingredients present in Envas Tablets . They are also contraindicated in the following cases:
