Tretin Cream(Generic Tretinoin Cream) - Product Information

Tretin cream (Generic Tretinoin Cream) is used for topical treatment of acne vulgaris. Topical Tretinoin cream is also used to treat and reduce the appearance of stretch marks by increasing collagen production in the dermis.

Active Ingredient present in Tretin Cream

The active ingredient present in Tretin cream is Tretinoin. Each gram of Tretin cream contains Tretinoin in either of two strengths, 0.025% (0.25 mg) or 0.05% (0.5 mg) in a hydrophilic cream vehicle.

Uses of Tretin Cream

Tretin cream (Generic Tretinoin Cream) is used to treat acne or other skin diseases as determined by your doctor. It works partly by keeping skin pores clear.
Tretinoin cream is also used to treat fine wrinkles, dark spots, or rough skin on the face caused by the damaging rays of the sun. It works by lightening the skin, replacing older skin with newer skin, and slowing down the way the body removes skin cells that may have been harmed by the sun. Tretinoin works best when used within a skin care program that includes protecting the treated skin from the sun. However, it does not completely or permanently erase these skin problems or greatly improve more obvious changes in the skin, such as deep wrinkles caused by the sun or the natural aging process.

Tretin Cream (Tretinoin 0.025% and 0.05% Cream) - Dosage

Apply a thin layer of Tretin Cream once daily, before bedtime, to skin where lesions occur. Keep away from eyes, mouth, nasal creases, and mucous membranes. This medicine is not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use.
Please consult your doctor for exact dosing instructions. tablets (Generic tablets) should be administered in the dose prescribed by the doctor and for the duration recommended by the doctor.

How to Use Tretin Cream (Generic Tretinoin 0.025% and 0.05% Cream)

Tretin cream should be applied once daily, before bedtime, to the skin where acne lesions appear, using a thin layer to cover the entire affected area. Using more medicine or applying it more often than prescribed will not make it work any faster, and may increase but may increase the risk of skin irritation. Do not use for longer than your doctor has prescribed. Before applying, the area under treatment (not just clinical lesions) should be thoroughly cleansed with a mild soap or cleanser, and dried. Wash your hands before and after applying it.

Wait at least 20 minutes after washing the area under treatment before applying a thin layer of the medication. Applying the cream to wet skin may cause skin irritation. Do not wash the treated area for at least 1 hour after applying this medicine. Applying an excessive amount of gel may result in "pilling" of the medication. If this occurs, use a thinner layer of gel with the next application.

It should be used as part of a complete skin care program that includes avoiding sunlight and using an effective sunscreen and protective clothing.

Use Tretin cream for as many days as it has been prescribed for you even if you think it is not working. Therapeutic effects may not be seen until 6 to 8 weeks after the start of treatment. Treatment should normally be continued for three months. If you are using it to treat acne, your condition may get slightly worse for a short time when you first start using the medication.
If undue irritation (redness, peeling or discomfort) occurs, patients may use a non-comedogenic moisturiser as needed and should reduce frequency of application or temporarily interrupt treatment. The normal frequency of application should be resumed once the irritation subsides.
Treatment should be discontinued if the irritation persists. Call your doctor if skin irritation becomes severe or if your acne does not improve within 8 to 12 weeks.

Missed Dose Instructions

Use Tretin cream as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and wait until your next regularly scheduled dose. Do not apply extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
