Warnings and Precautions

Contraindications

Obelit capsules (Generic Alli) is contraindicated in patients with chronic malabsorption syndrome or cholestasis, and in patients with known hypersensitivity to Orlistat or to any inactive component of this product.

Orlistat has been classified by the US FDA as pregnancy category X. Do not use this medicine without your doctor's consent in case you are pregnant. Stop using this medication and inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant during treatment.

There are no controlled studies conducted in human pregnancy.Weight loss is not recommended during pregnancy, even if you are overweight or obese. Since weight loss offers no potential benefit to a pregnant woman and may result in fetal harm, Orlistat capsules are contraindicated during pregnancy.

Nursing Considerations

Taking Orlistat can make it harder for your body to absorb certain vitamins. These vitamins are important if you are nursing a baby.
