The active ingredients present in Amace-BP tablets are Amlodipine Besylate and Benazepril HCl. Each tablet contains 5 mg of Amlodipine Besylate and 10 mg of Benazepril HCl.

Uses of Generic Lotrel (Amace-BP by Systopic)

Amace-BP 5/10 is used to treat high blood pressure. Blood pressure is the force of blood in your blood vessels. You have high blood pressure (hypertension) when the force is too much. Amace-BP by Systopic (Amlodipine & Benazepril) can help your blood vessels relax so your blood pressure is lower.

Generic Lotrel (Amlodipine and Benazepril Tablets) - Contraindications

Generic Lotrel tablets are contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to Amlodipine Besylate, Benazepril HCl or any inactive ingredient present in Amace-BP tablets. Amlodipine and Benazepril Tablets are also contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema.

Do not coadminister aliskiren with ACE inhibitors, including Generic Lotrel tablets (Amace-BP ), in patients with diabetes.

The most common side effects of Generic Lotrel 5/10 (Amlodipine Besylate and Benazepril Hydrochloride tablets) are:
• cough      
• dizziness
• headache
• swelling of the feet, ankles, and hands

Amace-BP (Generic Lotrel tablets) can cause serious side effects including allergic reactions that can be life threatening. Stop taking Amace-BP (Generic Lotrel, Amlodipine & Benazepril) and get emergency help right away if you get:

• swelling of your face, eyelids, lips, tongue, or throat
• have trouble swallowing      
• asthma (wheezing) or other breathing problems (more often in people who are African-American)

Low blood pressure is most likely to happen if you also take water pills, are on a low salt diet, get dialysis treatments, have heart problems, or get sick with vomiting or diarrhea. Lie down if you feel faint or dizzy.

Call your doctor if you:
• are nausea
• feel more tired or weaker than usual
• have itching
• have pain in your upper right stomach
• have flu-like symptoms
• have low white blood cell count
• have kidney problems
• have chest pain and heart

Low white blood cell count happens more in people who have kidney problems and collagen vascular diseases. Low white blood cell count can give you a higher chance for getting infections. Call your doctor if you get a fever, sore throat, or other signs of infection that does not go away.

Kidney problems may get worse in people that already have kidney disease. Some people will have changes on blood tests for kidney function and need a lower dose of this medicine. Call your doctor if you get swelling in your feet, ankles, hands, or unexplained weight gain.

Warnings & Precautions When Using Amlodipine and Benazepril Tablets (Generic Lotrel)

Do not take Amace-BP (Amlodipine & Benazepril tablets) if you are allergic to amlodipine or benazepril (the active ingredients). Tell your doctor about all your medical conditions, including if you:

• have a heart condition
• have liver problems
• have kidney problems
• have diabetes (high blood sugar)

Generic Lotrel (Amlodipine Besylate and Benazepril Hydrochloride tablets) is classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category D. Use of medicines that act on the RAS during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy reduces fetal renal function and increases fetal and neonatal morbidity and death.

Resulting oligohydramnios can be associated with fetal lung hypoplasia and skeletal deformations. Possible neonatal adverse effects can include skull hypoplasia, anuria, hypotension, renal failure, and death.
When pregnancy is detected, discontinue Generic Lotrel (Amlodipine and Benazepril Tablets tablets) as soon as possible.
