Imiquad Cream manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Generic Aldara 5%) is used for the topical treatment of Clinically typical, nonhyperkeratotic, nonhypertrophic actinic keratoses (AK) on the face or scalp in immunocompetent adults as well as Biopsy-confirmed, primary superficial basal cell carcinoma (sBCC) in immunocompetent adults when surgical methods are medically less appropriate and patient follow-up can be reasonably assured. Generic Aldara (Imiquimod 5%) is also used to treat external genital and perianal warts/condyloma acuminata in patients 12 years old or older. Imiquad Cream is manufactured by Glenmark in the strengths of 5%.

Active Ingredient present in Imiquad Cream
The active ingredient present in Imiquad Cream is Imiquimod 5%. Each 250 mg single sachet contains 12.5 mg of the active ingredient Imiquimod, which is an immune response modifier.
Uses of Imiquad Cream (Generic Aldara 5%)
Imiquimod cream 5% is used on the skin to treat actinic keratosis on the face or scalp in adults with a normal immune system caused by too much sun exposure. It is also used to treat warts on or around the genitals or anus in people 12 years and older as well as to treat superficial basal cell carcinoma in adults with a normal immune system when surgery is not recommended.

Imiquad Cream (Generic Aldara 5%) - Dosage
Generic Aldara Cream is not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use. The dosage of Imiquad Cream (Generic Aldara) for various indications is given below:
Actinic keratosis: 2 times per week for a full 16 weeks
Superficial basal cell carcinoma: 5 times per week for a full 6 weeks.
External genital warts (EGW): 3 times per week until total clearance or a maximum of 16 weeks.
How to Use Imiquad Cream (Generic Imiquimod 5%)
Do not get Imiquad (Generic Imiquimod 5% cream) in or near your mouth, eyes, nose or vagina. If you get Imiquad (generic Aldara Imiquimod 5% cream) in your mouth or in your eyes, rinse well with water right away.
Use Imiquad exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to. Using too much Imiquad (generic Aldara Imiquimod 5% cream), or using it too often or for too long, can increase your chances for having a severe skin reaction or other side effect.
Imiquad (Generic Aldara 5% cream) is used for different skin conditions. Use Imiquad only on the area of your body to be treated. Do not apply Imiquad (generic Aldara Imiquimod 5% cream) to other areas. You should follow-up with your healthcare provider regularly for check-ups while using Imiquimod 5% cream or if it is not working for you.
Imiquad by Glenmark/ Gracewell should be applied just before your bedtime. Wash the area where the cream will be applied with mild soap and water. Uncircumcised males treating warts under their penis foreskin must pull their foreskin back and clean the area before treatment, and clean the area daily during treatment.
Allow the area to dry for at least 10 minutes. Wash your hands. Open a new packet of Imiquad (Generic Aldara 5% cream). Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area. Do not use more than is needed to cover the affected area. Rub the Imiquimod 5% cream into your skin until you cannot see the cream. After applying this cream, wash your hands well.
Leave the Imiquad cream on the treated area for the amount of time your healthcare provider tells you to. The length of time that this cream is left on the skin is different for each skin condition that it is used to treat. Do not take a bath or get the treated area wet during this time.
After the right amount of time has passed, wash the treated area with mild soap and water.
Imiquad Cream (Generic Aldara 5%) Side Effects
The most common side effects of Imiquad (Generic Aldara 5% cream) include:
• flaking and scaling
• scabbing and crusting
• skin that becomes hard or thickened
• sores, blisters, or ulcers
• changes in skin color that do not always go away
Imiquad (Generic Aldara 5% cream) may cause serious side effects including:
• local skin reactions
• skin drainage (weeping)
• severe swelling near the vagina
• flu-like symptoms tiredness, fever, nausea, muscle pain and chills
Female patients should take special care when applying Imiquad (Generic Imiquimod 5% cream) at the opening of the vagina. This may lead to pain or trouble passing urine or cause you not to be able to urinate. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you have any of the symptoms listed above.
Tell your healthcare provider if you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not go away. These are not all the possible side effects of this cream. For more information, ask your healthcare provider.
Warnings & Precautions
Before using Imiquad Cream by Glenmark tell your healthcare provider if you:
• have problems with your immune system
• are being treated or have been treated for actinic keratosis with other medicines or surgery
• have any other skin problems
• have any other medical conditions
Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take such as vitamins and herbal supplements. Especially, tell your healthcare provider if you have had other treatments for genital warts, warts around your anus, actinic keratosis, or superficial basal cell carcinoma. Imiquad (Generic Aldara 5% cream) should not be used until your skin has healed from other treatments.
Do not cover the treated area with bandages or other closed dressings. Do not use sunlamps or tanning beds and avoid sunlight as much as possible during treatment with this cream. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing if you go outside during daylight. Do not have sexual contact including genital, anal, or oral sex when this cream is on your genital or the skin around your anus. Imiquimod 5% cream may weaken condoms and vaginal diaphragms. This means they may not work as well to prevent pregnancy.
Know the medicines you take. Keep a list of them to show your healthcare provider when you get a new medicine.
Imiquad Cream during Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
FDA pregnancy category C. This medicine may be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. It is not known whether this medicine passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medicine without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
