Cyclosporine 0.05% and 0.1% Eye Drops (Generic Restasis) is an immunosuppressant which is used to increase tear production in the eyes. Cyclomune Eye Drops (Generic Cyclosporine) is used to treat chronic dry eyes due to a certain type of eye condition called keratoconjunctivitis sicca. This medicine works by increasing the amount of tears you make.

Active Ingredient present in Cyclomune Eye Drops

The active ingredient present in Cyclomune eye drops is Cyclosporine.

Uses of Cyclomune Eye Drops (Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Solution)

Cyclomune 0.05% and 0.1% eye drops (Generic Restasis) contain cyclosporine which increases tear production that has been reduced by inflammation in the eye(s). Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Solution is a topical immunomodulator which is used to increase tear production in patients whose tear production is presumed to be suppressed due to ocular inflammation associated with keratoconjunctivitis sicca.

Cyclosporine Eye Drops (Generic Restasis) Dosage

The normal adult dose of Cyclosporine Eye Drops (Generic Restasis) for the treatment of Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca:
1 drop 2 times a day in each eye approximately 12 hours apart.

Cyclosporine eye drops are to be used only in the eye(s). Do not swallow or apply Cyclosporine eye drops to the skin.

Missed Dose Instructions for Cyclosporine Eye drops

Administer the missed dose of Cyclosporine eye drops as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not administer a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Cyclomune Eye Drops Storage

Store Cyclomune Eye Drops (Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Solution) at controlled room temperature (15°C to 25°C). Protect from light.

Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Solution Warnings

Certain medical conditions may interact with Cyclosporine eye drops (Cyclomune Ophthalmic Solution) . Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

  • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
  • if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
  • if you have a history of herpes infection of the eye (herpes keratitis)
  • if you are using punctal plugs

You should not put Generic Restasis in your eyes while wearing contact lenses. Wait at least 15 minutes after using this medicine before putting in your contact lenses. It is recommended not to wear contact lenses if you have dry eyes. Talk with your doctor.

Certain medication can interact with Cyclosporine eye drops. Please inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following: Topical anti-inflammatory medicines (eg, ketorolac) because they may decrease Cyclosporine drops's effectiveness.

Inorder to avoid the potential for eye injury and contamination, be careful not to touch the vial tip to your eye or other surfaces.

 

Cyclosporine Eye Drops Side Effects

The common Cyclosporine Eye Drops side effects can include mild burning or stinging in the eyes; mild redness or itching; blurred vision; or feeling like something is in your eye. The most common side effect following the use of was ocular burning observed in 17% of the patients.

Get emergency medical help in case signs of an allergic reaction to Generic Restasis (Cyclomune Eye Drops): hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop using Cyclosporine Eye Drops immediately and call your doctor at once if you have: eye pain, eye swelling, redness, severe discomfort, crusting or drainage (may be signs of infection).

Cyclomune Eye Drops Overdosage

An overdose of Generic Restasis (Cyclomune Eye Drops) is not expected to be dangerous.

Cyclosporine Eye Drops may be harmful if swallowed. If swallowing or overdose is suspected, please contact a poison control center or emergency room right away.

Cyclomune Eye Drops (Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Solution) Contraindications

Cyclomune Eye Drops are contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to Cyclosporine or any inactive ingredient present in Cyclomune Eye Drops.
Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Solution is also contraindicated in patients with an eye infection.

Cyclosporine Eye Drops During Pregnancy

Cyclosporine Eye Drops have been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category C. Do not use this medicine without your doctor's consent in case you are pregnant.

Adverse effects were seen in reproduction studies in animals only at toxic levels of doses. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies of Cyclosporine Ophthalmic Solution in pregnant women. Cyclomune Eye Drops should be administered to a pregnant woman only if clearly needed.
Stop using this medication and inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant during treatment.

Nursing Considerations

Cyclosporine is known to be excreted in human milk following systemic administration but excretion in human milk after topical treatment has not been studied. Although blood concentrations are undetectable after topical administration of Cyclosporine ophthalmic solution, caution should be exercised when Cyclomune Eye Drops are administered to a nursing woman.
Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
