Uses of Avagra Tablets - What Is Avanafil Prescribed For?

Avagra (Generic Avanafil 100 mg) is the newest, next generation medication that is prescribed for the treatment of adult men with erectile dysfunction. Avagra improves erectile function with a low rate of side effects. Sexual stimulation is required for a response to treatment with this medicine.

How Does Avanafil Work?

Sexual stimulation that leads to an erection causes the production and release of nitric oxide in the penis. The nitric oxide causes an enzyme, guanylate cyclase, to produce cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). It is cGMP that is mainly responsible for increasing and decreasing the size of blood vessels carrying blood to and from the penis, respectively, and causing an erection. When the cGMP is destroyed by another enzyme, phosphodiesterase-5, the blood vessels return to their normal size, blood leaves the penis, and the erection ends.

How Long Does Avanafil Last?

Avanafil is absorbed rapidly and maximum observed plasma concentrations are reached within 30 minutes to 45 minutes of oral dosing in the fasted state. Avagra (Generic Avanafil tablets) - Warnings and Precautions

The warnings and precautions associated with the use of Avagra (Generic Avanafil tablets) are given below:

• Patients should not use Avagra if sexual activity is inadvisable due to cardiovascular status or any other reason.
• Use of Avagra with alpha-blockers, other antihypertensives, or substantial amounts of alcohol (greater than 3 units) could lead to hypotension.
• Patients should seek emergency treatment if an erection lasts greater than 4 hours. In case this condition is not treated immediately, penile tissue damage and permanent loss of potency could result.
• Patients should stop Avagra and seek medical assistance in case a sudden loss of vision occurs in one or both eyes, which could be a sign of Non Arteritic Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION). Discuss with patients the increased risk of NAION in patients with a history of NAION.
• Patients should stop taking Avagra and seek prompt medical attention in the event of sudden decrease or loss of hearing.
• Patients taking concomitant strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (including Ketoconazole, Ritonavir, Atazanavir, Clarithromycin, Indinavir, Itraconazole, Nefazodone, Nelfinavir, Saquinavir and Telithromycin), must not use Avagra.
• Avagra can potentiate the hypotensive effect of nitrates, alpha-blockers, antihypertensives, and alcohol.
• Doctors should discuss with patients the potential for Avagra to augment the blood pressure-lowering effect of alpha -blockers and other antihypertensive medications.
• Patients should be made aware that both alcohol and PDE5 inhibitors including Avagra act as vasodilators. When vasodilators are taken in combination, blood-pressure-lowering effects of each individual compound may be increased. Therefore, doctors must inform patients that substantial consumption of alcohol (e.g., greater than 3 units) in combination with Avagra tablets could increase the potential for orthostatic signs and symptoms, including increase in heart rate, decrease in standing blood pressure, dizziness, and headache.

Common Generic Avanafil (Avagra tablets) side effects with an inidence rate of greater than or equal to 2% include headache, flushing, nasal congestion, nasopharyngitis, and back pain.

• Skin and Appendages - pruritus
• Urogenital - balanitis, erection increased, hematuria, nephrolithiasis, pollakiuria, urinary tract infection

Overdosage

Single doses up to 800 mg have been administered to healthy subjects, and multiple doses up to 300 mg have been given to patients.

In cases of overdose, standard supportive measures must be employed as required. Renal dialysis is not expected to accelerate clearance since Avanafil is highly bound to plasma proteins and is not significantly eliminated in the urine.

Avanafil During Pregnancy

Avanafil has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category C. Avanafil (Avagra Tablets) is not indicated for use in women. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies of Avanafil in pregnant women. Animal studies have not revealed any evidence of teratogenicity, embryotoxicity or fetotoxicity.
